    The basic mandatory requirement of B schools in India is usually CAT or GMAT. Overall, there are 6 nationalised tests approved by AICTE (GMAT, CAT, MAT, ATMA, NMAT, XAT and CMAT).

    While the CAT, MAT, XAT, IIFT, NMAT, SNAP, etc., are accepted by only the related institution and limited B-schools, GMAT is accepted by a larger range of B-schools across India. By taking the GMAT, a candidate has an advantage of applying to business schools across the globe.

    CAT Exam

    The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held all over India. The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation.

    MAH – CET Exam

    Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH – CET) is a computer-based management entrance test. Officially known as MAH-MBA/MMS-CET, the exam is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra, for admission to management courses such as MBA/MMS in various institutes in the state of Maharashtra.

    The admission to the management courses such as MBA/ MMS/ PGDBM/ PGDM is a centralised process and covered under Centralised Admission Process (CAP) carried out by the Competent Authority of the State of Maharashtra.

    The test comprises multiple choice objective type questions. Candidates need to attempt 200 questions in 150 minutes.

    The questions are from following topics :  Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, Visual Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency.

    The overall difficulty level of the paper was simple to moderate, but the difficulty lay in selecting the simpler questions first.
